Reshape and enhance the appearance of your chin, reclaiming your profile and overall look. A Chin Augmentation works to contour a “weak chin” and give balance to the face.
Chin augmentation to address a “weak chin” can be a great choice for enhancing facial balance and harmony. During this surgery, our plastic surgeon will either insert an implant or move the existing bone forward to build up a receding chin. We may also recommend submental liposuction to remove excess fatty tissue to redefine the neckline and chin.
Is a Chin Augmentation right for me?
Do you want to: • Enhance your appearance? • Regain facial balance and harmony? • Improve the shape or size of your chin?
What will Dr. Kaye and I discuss during my consultation?
As part of your pre-surgical consultation, Dr. Mitchell D. Kaye will carefully examine your chin and jaw area to pinpoint areas that can be improved. He will also consider additional factors that may impact the results of the surgery, including the amount of fat present in the neck, the bone structure of the lower face, and your skin type, to personalize your chin augmentation procedure to fit your individual needs and goals.
How long is the procedure?
During chin augmentation, our plastic surgeon will insert an implant either through the mouth or through a hard-to-see crease behind the chin to build up a receding chin. Chin augmentation is performed as an outpatient procedure in our IMQ accredited cosmetic surgery center located at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center of Tennessee under deep sedation and local anesthesia. In general, the procedure is completed in one hour or so.
How long will recovery take?
We recommend taking about one week off after the procedure to recover. During this time, it is optimal to have no work or social obligations to allow you to rest. Sutures are removed after one week, and most patients resume their normal daily activities and work within 7-10 days.
