How long is the procedure?
Treatment takes approximately two hours. This surgery is performed under deep sedation and local anesthesia at our IMQ-accredited cosmetic surgery center located at the Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Center of Tennessee. The incisions for otoplasty are placed in the crease behind the ear, ensuring they are all but invisible. The cartilage is then reshaped.
How long will recovery take?
The patient is discharged home following the procedure, and Dr. Mitchell D. Kaye recommends one week of rest and recovery at home. Sutures are then removed, and the patient is asked to wear a supporting ear band at night for two more weeks.
