Fat Transfer (Fat Grafting) Clarksville, TN
Fat transfer to the face can be a great way to regain facial volume that has been lost due to aging, weight loss, or other reasons. A smooth facial contour that is free of deep valleys, ridges, or hollows is one of the hallmarks of youth and beauty. In this procedure, we take fat from the patient’s hip, belly, or arm and process it for injection. It is then artfully injected in tiny amounts deep beneath the skin with the goal to recreate lost contours of the face or to create ones that were never present.
*Fat transfer results may vary.
What is it?
Fat transfer is the ultimate in recycling. Patients provide their own facial filler through the liposuction of an area such as the tummy, thighs, inner knees or arms. The fat is transferred through a tiny incision in the face to restore smoothness and volume to areas of deficiency on the face. Filling in hollows and improving the fullness and shape in the creases near the eyes, cheeks, and folds surrounding the nose and mouth are typical locations for transfer. The volume of fat available to transfer is much greater and much less expensive than commercial fillers, making fat transfer more effective and efficient. Fat transfer also has the potential to last for years, although the exact amount of fat retained over time cannot be determined in advance of the procedure. A second, follow-up procedure to add more fat may be necessary in the future.
Is a Fat Transfer right for me?
A fat transfer can benefit anyone who is a candidate for facial fillers, although it is not used for the lips. Fat transfer is particularly beneficial for patients undergoing a facelift or other facial cosmetic treatments.
